Trevor Day School is seeking candidates for a full-time Middle and Upper School Learning Specialist for the 2024–25 academic year. This individual is a member of the Academic Support Department and serves as an advisor to a group of students. Learning specialists evaluate the needs of students and provide one-to-one academic support that addresses a variety of learning styles and challenges. They collaborate with advisors, teachers, deans, and administrators and maintain close communication with families, tutors, and other professionals. They meet with families and outside evaluators as needed to discuss completed evaluations and requisite accommodations at the school. As a team, learning specialists assess and improve schoolwide systems of academic support to promote student success and independence.

 

Qualifications include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in special education or a related field preferred.

  • Experience writing learning profiles based on neuropsychological evaluations preferred.

  • Knowledge of IEPs, IESPs, and testing accommodations preferred.

  • Enthusiasm for working with middle and upper school students and faculty in a collaborative environment.

  • Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Growth mindset and passion for learning. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Flexibility, creativity, patience, and a sense of humor. 

 

The full-time salary range for this position is $65,000–$130,000. When extending an offer for employment, Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
