Trevor Day School is seeking candidates for a part-time or full-time Upper School Computer Science Teacher for the 2024–25 academic year. Responsibilities may include teaching Programming Fundamentals (8th–10th grade), Intermediate Programming (9th–11th grade), and Advanced Programming electives (10th–12th grade).  Candidates should have experience teaching multiple programming languages, including (but not limited to) Java, Javascript, Python, and/or P5, at the Upper School level. They should also have a strong interest in working with a diverse student body and colleagues in an open and collaborative environment. All Trevor teachers serve as advisors and are expected to participate actively in the school's daily life. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, as well as a minimum of three 

years experience in teaching computer programming.  

  • Background in developing intermediate and advanced elective courses for Upper School students on contemporary topics in computer science, including (but not limited to) issues in artificial intelligence, big data, cybersecurity, ethical issues, etc.

  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues on lesson planning and innovative curriculum development.

  • Proven ability to form strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction to accommodate a range of learning styles. 

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Growth mindset and passion for learning. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

The full-time salary range for this position is $51,000–$164,000 as per the school’s salary scale. 

When extending an offer for employment, Trevor Day School bases the salary upon several factors that include (but are not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education, training, key skills, and peer salary equity.
